Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, Senior General Than Shwe, has sent a message of sympathy to His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the loss of lives and property caused by devastating earthquake in Pakistan on 8 October 2005.

“ We have been waiting for this SMS for a long time..."
The Ministry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs had sent to the users of GSM that SMS ( Short Message Service) is could be used commencing from 2nd October by SMS system.
A user of GSM told that “ We have been waiting for this SMS for a long time. When this information reached me I could able to send the message which I wanted to send to my friends whether they are out of communication area, or if their phones are switched off".
GSM phone users can use the SMS system beginning from 2nd, October and the fee for sending the message will cost Kyat 25, and Activation Fees and Annual Fee are not needed to be paid.
