China to help with diesel engine factory
Myanmar and China are planning to build a factory that will manufacture diesel engines for trains and vessels. Officials from Myanmar Motor Vehicles and Diesel Engine Enterprise and China's Shandong Puli Construction Engineering reached an agreement on August 25 in Nay Pyi Taw, the report said. The report said the factory will be constructed at Thagara Industrial Zone in Bago Region's Yedashe township. Once completed, the factory will be able to produce diesel engines ranging from 2200 horsepower to 7000 horsepower.

Myanmar Traditional Chess Championship Competition to be held
It is trying to arrange that Myanmar Traditional Chess Championship Competition to be held at Aung San Gymnasium in coming October. The competition is the third time and the first was held in Mandalay. Setting an aim to take part in the XXVI SEA Games including the 3rd Myanmar Tradition Chess Championship competition, a ceremony for co-ordination of rules and disciplines of sports will be held on 7 September. Press Conference on Myanmar Traditional Chess piece and playing methods will be held soon, it was learnt.

Get emporium to be held next month
The Ministry of Mines is set to host a gem emporium early next month at a hall in Nay Pyi Taw's Zabuthiri township. Gems, jade and pearls will be sold at the emporium through at a tender system. The event is expected to be held in the first week of October. The hall is located on a 20-acre compound beside the gems museum on Yazathingaha Road. Gems businesses have until September 20 to submit items to sell at the emporium, which is popular with Thai and Chinese traders.

STI Education to hold seminar on education
STI Education is conducting international recognized certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and officer-level diploma courses. These courses cover seminar, teaching and examination supervised by experienced native teachers. STI has made an arrangement to hold seminar on job opportunity for youth at Traders Hotel on 20 June (Sunday). Foundation course of STI will be discussed at the seminar. Lawkanat exhibition
Thirty artists will hold a group exhibition from September 19 to 25 at Lawkanat Gallery on the corner of Pansodan and Merchant streets, Yangon. The exhibition features a mix of painting styles, installations and performance art.

New Yangon-Bagan bus line
Travellers to Bagan and Pakokku will have a new bus service from September 5- as well as a motorboat connection to reduce their traveling time. Shwe Sin Satkyar Transportation last week announced the launch of its highway bus service from Yangon to Bagan, plus the motorboat service to Pakokku. Tickets are available a week beforehand for K10,400 each at Aung Mingalar, Aung San and Tarmwe bus stations. The trip takes nine hours, it will come down to eight hours when the Yangon-Kyaukpadaung road is finished. The boat trip takes from 20 to 45 minutes depending on water conditions.
